RAAF 7TH INTAKE 1953
TOTTENHAM/FROGNALL
Reunion No.11 - Mt Gambier
1st - 2nd April 2006
A great start to the reunion when 12 members and their wives arrived on Friday afternoon. As usual the selection of the motel was very good, thanks to the organisers. It was recommended that we have our evening meal at the Tavern, a short walk from the motel. After suitably rearranging tables and chairs we all participated in having a very merry time together and an enjoyable meal.
The arrangement for the start of the reunion was an informal meeting in the conference room at about 3pm on Saturday. With so much time to spare, it was time to go shopping. The ladies made the most of the opportunity.
At the appointed time we met for the informal start of the reunion activities in the conference room where you could not hear yourself for all the cheerful talking and reuniting with fellow members. The evening meal was an outstanding success and a precursor to the activities organised for the following day.
Len Glare reported to the gathering of the Dedication of the RAAF NATIONAL SERVICE 1951-1959 COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE AND WREATH LAYING CEREMONY conducted on Saturday 22nd October, 2005 in Canberra. (See Pictures)
The activities on Sunday consisted of a short tour of Mt Gambier township and on to nearby Nelson. A river cruise on the Glenelg River with lunch provided was a relaxing two hours spent together. Arriving back at the coach we departed for the Princess Margaret Rose Caves where the more adventurous took the tour of the caves. Departing the Caves we headed back to Mt Gambier to commence a guided tour of the Blue Lake Pumping Station. On completion we were returned to the Motel.
