RAAF 7TH INTAKE 1953
TOTTENHAM/FROGNALL
Reunion No. 6 - Tanunda
31st - 1st November 1998
Everyone will know that Tanunda is in the heart of the Barossa Valley, that wine producing area of S.A.
We were booked in at the Barossa Motor Lodge, Tanunda by our organisers, Lindsay Porter, Dennis Mattner, Dean Standish and Trevor Raneberg.
Saturday 31st October.
Informal welcome at the Barossa Motor Lodge and reunion dinner in the evening.
Sunday 1st November.
Tour, Tasing & Nibbles. We visited St Hallet Winery where we were treated to a comprehensive explanation of the vineyard and wine production. A BBQ was enjoyed at lunch time. An opportunity was taken by those imbibers to purchase the necessaries from the Cellar Door.
Remember? Our visit to Lincoln Nitschke's Military and Historical Aircraft Collection! The admission charge of $2 was little for the value that we received from this most knowledgable fellow, explaining his collection. For those that may re-visit the Barossa, this exhibition is located approximately 3 kms from Greenock on the Kapunda Road.
The special feature of this memorable visit to the Barossa was the presentation by Lindsay Porter of the fine bottle of ANNIVERSARY PORT, presented to each member in attendance.
This bottle proudly adorns my den, not to be opened in my lifetime!
*****
It was resolved at this reunion, the next would be held in Geelong in the year 2000.
